What
follows could be a live report of a tsunami wave, that hits the coast.
Today
it promises to become really warm. There
isn’t much wind and at ten in the morning temperature is already above 68
F. Walking slowly in the loose
warm sand. Nancy is looking for a place on the beach where she can lay down for
sunbathing. When she arrives at a spot where it’s not too much crowded, Nancy
drops her beach bag on the sand. Then she spreads her bathing towel, takes of
her dress and lies down on it with her face towards the sea. Her black bikini
fits beautifully on her already bronzed body and combines very well with her
long blond hair.
The
soft rustle of the wind and the surf accompanies her thoughts. Now, that she is
resting a bit, there is time to think things over. The past period of her life
had been very hectic.
First
there were the exams at college, and then about two weeks ago something happened
that she didn’t understand. A lot of people quite suddenly disappeared,
without any sign.
Leaving
highways all over the world in chaos, while cars crashed without the driver in
them. Even in aviation many accidents occurred. Especially in the USA there were
many severe accidents.
Wild
stories were spread about what could have been happened. Some people believed
that UFO ‘s had taken the
vanished persons into space.Others
thought of a massive suicide of a strange sect ……..
While
Nancy let her thoughts pass over things that happened the last few weeks, she
lifts her head and watches a ship, the “PONL Kobe”, in the distance, that’s
accompanied by a tug, entering one of the fairways towards the terminals in
port. A moment she is thinking how it would be to work on a large ship like that,
to make distant voyages and to visit interesting countries ……
Her
anxious thoughts however bring her back to the things that happened these past
weeks. A very good friend of her had also disappeared together with all the
other people.
She
lets the ship be, closes her eyes and rests her head on her arms again. The hot
sun is doing her well and slowly she dozes off, while the questions remain stuck
in her head.
How
long she has been lying there she doesn’t know, but suddenly she is completely
awake again. Something, but what, has alarmed her. Frightened she sits straight
and looks towards the sea, or at least where the sea and surf should have
been.
But…
the sea had pulled back for more than a kilometer and now you can’t hear the
surf anymore. Nancy realizes that this is the reason that had awakened her: the
sound of the surf is gone!
To
see things better, she stands up. In the distance she sees the “PONL Kobe”
and the tugboat sailing, both have gone along the fairway for some distance now.
But is she seeing things right? She watches both ships more intent. Yes, the
ships aren’t advancing inland anymore, but are sailing astern towards the sea!
How is that possible? What’s happening?
On
the bridge of the “PONL Kobe” is pilot Henk van der Wal. He navigates the
ship as a routine through the channel towards the terminal. All at once the ship
doesn’t seem to move anymore, even while the motor is at half speed. A little
later they are even going astern and although they put the engine at full power,
the ship is pulled faster and faster backwards towards the sea.
All the
fairways
towards “Europoort” seem to be drained to the sea. Pilot Henk, but also the
captain and the mate don’t understand what’s happening. They look with their
binoculars towards the sea. You trampled the sea with your horses,
churning the great waters.
Far
away there seems to be happening something, at the horizon it looks like the sea
is raising….
You trampled the sea with your
horses, and the mighty waters piled high.
Habakkuk 3:15
Captain
Piet Geerts is the first one who realizes what’s happening. Some years ago he
had been with a ship in the bay of Yokohama, when suddenly a Tsunami, a kind of
flood wave, had entered the bay from the sea. Their ship had been in a good
position at that time and the tsunami hadn’t been very high. They had gone
adrift just a little, while the ship was pulling at the anchor chain when the
tsunami, about four meters high, had passed quickly under their ship. At some
places in the bay the wave had become even higher and a lot of damage had been
created. Some smaller fisher boats had capsized, drowning some seamen.
A
tsunami the captain thinks. How is that possible, here in the North Sea, a
tsunami? But all signs are pointing in that direction.
Gentlemen,
the captain says, a tsunami is coming towards us, and I believe it to be a very
high one. His brains are working at top speed, to work out what has to be done
next. At sea they would have been in a good position to wait for the wave, but
here they are in a shallow channel where maneuverability is very limited. And
they are speeding astern towards the rapidly oncoming tsunami.
Through
their binoculars they have a good view of the nearing wave. It’s unbelievable.
A wave of probably tens of meters high is advancing towards them with a speed of
hundreds of kilometers per hour.
At
the beach Nancy is now standing and together with almost al the people she
stares in the direction of the sea, from where a roaring sound is coming that is
growing louder all the time. While they are standing a lot lower than Piet
Geerts on the bridge of the ship, the people at the beach see the oncoming
tsunami much later. So it’s becoming clear that it’s a huge wave.
The
tanned face of Nancy is getting white from fear, she’s feeling sick and her
knees begin to fail her. All around her people, seized by fear, start to faint
and fall on the sand. Some people get respiration troubles, while others get a
heart attack from fear.
I trembled inside when I heard
all this; my lips quivered with fear. My legs gave way beneath me,
and I shook in terror.
Habakkuk 3:16
Nancy
wants to cry out, but no sound is coming from her open mouth. Paralyzed she’s
standing there, while the wave that’s getting higher and higher is coming to
the shore very fast. All of a sudden the tsunami reaches her under ear-splitting
noise. Like a feather she’s picked up by the rapidly advancing tsunami and
with high velocity smashed against the concrete high buildings along the beach.
Her body is shattered by the power of the impact.
Buildings
collapse under the great large mass of water, while the wave rages inland,
bringing ruin and death everywhere.
Before
pilot Henk van der Wal or captain Piet Geerts can do anything useful, the
enormous wave is nearing their position. The violence that is unfolding moments
later is indescribable.
In
spite of its bulky size, the “PONL Kobe” seems to be a surfboard. The on
speeding wave lifts the ship and an instant they are afraid the ship will
capsize. Higher and higher they are lifted up until the ship is almost at the
top of the tsunami surfing inland. After a while the “PONL Kobe” collides
with a big bang against the installations of one of the oil refineries of
Europoort.
As
the wave moves on it crushes all the tanks in that area, releasing millions of
tons of oil, chemicals, liquid gasses and other dangerous goods in a short time.
It’s just a matter of seconds before this explosive mixture is ignited.
The
outcome we can compare with the power of some atomic bombs. The fireball of the
blast rages after the tsunami and destroys everything that was still standing
there after the passage of the wave. For a moment it looks like the tsunami is
overrun and weakened by the explosions, but the still at high speed passing mass
of water can’t be stopped.
This
violence together with even more explosions of smashed tanks, storages etc.
sweep the Netherlands completely away in a short time. The tsunami rolls on
passing the border with Germany, coming slowly to a standstill while the country
there is a lot higher.
Two
other countries along the shores of the North Sea will endure the same
catastrophe as the Netherlands and also elsewhere damage will be enormous. The
result of the tsunami is really beyond belief.
If I cause wild beasts to pass
through the land, and they empty it, and make it so desolate that no
man may pass through because of the beasts,
Ezekiel 14:15
Millions
of people will perish within an hour and once fertile and economic prosperous
countries are swept away forever, becoming a territory where nobody will travel
across anymore ……. It will be left to the wild animals.
The
east coast of America will experience trouble like the Netherlands and much
damage will occur, leaving a lot of cities destroyed, while many cities on the
east coast are situated at sea level.
